The mission of the Boy Scouts of America
is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their
lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey
the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law
A Scout Is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent
Boy scouting is a year-round program for boys ages 10-1/2 through 17. Through the Boys Scout program, young men learn community service, team work, and duty to God in a patrol method. Patrols are small groups of 6 to 8 scouts. Older scouts are trained to teach and mentor younger scouts. The outdoors is the class room where scouts learn and practice life skills like cooking, cleaning, personal fitness, working as a team, good citizenship and learning to appreciate and respect nature.
The Boy Scouts meet every Wednesday at 7:00 pm September through June.
Meetings are held in the Academy of St. James School Hall (400 Totowa Road, Totowa).
Membership is open to all boys in the Fifth Grade through High School.
If you would you like your son to join the Boys Scouts or Cub Scouts, please contact Scoutmaster Michael DiGiaimo at [email protected]
Those interested in becoming an Adult Leader will need to complete the Boys Scouts of America Application and Youth Protection Training. Boy Scouts of America will also conduct a back ground check for each applicant. All adults must also complete the Church's Youth Protection Program "Protecting God's Children".
If you are interested in becoming an Adult Leader, please contact Scoutmaster Michael DiGiaimo at [email protected]
The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We are excited to announce that our program is now open to girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.
We meet on Wednesay nights at 7:00 pm (Cub Scouts) and 7:30 pm (Boy Scouts) in the St. James Academy School Hall
